about contact improvisation

Contact improvisation is a contemporary dance form that is essentially about movement based on shared contact. The contact is as a means of communication and a source of inspiration for dance, its point of departure is that you want to share weight and balance with each other by supporting and leaning, following the spontaneous movement that arises out of this.

The rich possibilities of this contact can be discovered within improvisation. For some that could be acrobatic and dynamic, for some it is an attentive sensory experience in small movement. It is a playful, social and creative way to dance with others.

Beautiful dancing is not important, the pleasure of moving and responding in movement becomes a playful encounter. An energetic, challenging dance or a still and slow dance that differs per dance, moment and dance partner.
